About the Job
ASSOCIATE VETERINARIAN / FUTURE MEDICAL DIRECTOR

WARNING: This job may cause extreme happiness, sudden career growth, and uncontrollable love for animals.

Are you passionate about patient care and the human-animal bond?
Do you have the drive to help a growing hospital thrive?
Are you looking for a consistent schedule and generous PTO?

Do you occasionally whisper, “I can save them all,” while dramatically staring into the distance?
Then buckle up, Doctor. We’ve been waiting for you.

WE ARE SEEKING AN ASSOCIATE VETERINARIAN WHO WANTS TO BECOME A MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Colony Animal Hospital is on a mission to find a veterinarian who is ready to practice high-quality medicine, lead with confidence, and eventually step into a Medical Director role with mentorship and support.
We are not asking for much.

 Just someone who can:
  •  Handle chaos with grace
  •  Love animals with their whole heart
  •  Possibly communicate telepathically with exotic pets (preferred but not required)
Give us a chance!
(Seriously. We’re fun. We promise.)

The Medical Director and Manager work together to define and implement medical policies that ensure excellent patient care. This role is a major part of maintaining client relationships, building a positive team culture, and ensuring the hospital reaches its goals.

This is a leadership position with a very important responsibility:
  • Keeping the practice running smoothly
  • Supporting the team
  • Helping us grow
  • Making sure the hospital stays a place people actually love coming to
  • Becoming the kind of veterinarian others look up to

Where are we?:
Newport News, VA — a coastal paradise where you can finish your shift and then go stare at the ocean like the main character you are.
Enjoy:
  • Ceaches - Minutes away!
  • Restaurants
  • History - Buckle up - History Central.
  • Outdoor adventures - Just a short drive to the mountains and Shenandoah National Park (what's 2.5hrs)

If you are looking to move I recommend checking out Hilton Village. It is a short commute and such a cute neighborhood.

What do we see:
We treat small animals AND exotic pets — because why stop at dogs and cats when you can also treat something that looks like it belongs in Jurassic Park?
Our client/patient needs are growing fast, and we need to grow too…
 which means we need YOU.

We love:

  • saving lives
  • snacks (Definitely)

We’re open to new ideas and would LOVE to incorporate your interests into the practice — whether that’s surgery, exotics, dentistry, internal medicine, ultrasound, or starting a hospital tradition where we crown “Employee of the Week” with a tiny tiara. Let us know what your ideas are!

HIGHLIGHTS:
  •  4-day work week
  •  Supportive, team-focused environment
  •  Leadership development & mentorship
  •  A growing caseload with small animal AND exotics
  •  Opportunity to learn, lead, and grow
